Counter Top Illness

Counter Top Illness

02 August 2018

Most of our kitchens are small with precious counter space. Our need to have our appliances out, ready for use add to the clutter we live with. Germs love our counters as they are breeding grounds for not only germs and bacteria, but for mold as well.

Our counters can be healthy with some easy to use products that will not only give our spaces healthy boost, but will make our environment look better to.

Remove everything:

First plan of action is to remove everything from our countertops. Starting with an empty area will allow us to disinfect properly and address hidden areas.

Use an all-purpose cleaner on every area of the counter. Pay attention to the corners and caulking. Water that lingers in these areas will cause stains on your counter but also allow mold to grow. Caulking that is worn out or moldy should be replaced.

Once the area is clean use a disinfectant on the countertops leaving it sit for 15-20 minutes will allow the disinfectant to kill the most germs and bacteria. Be sure to rinse the countertops after to remove any residual product.

The Appliances:

Cleaning and sanitizing your appliances such as your coffee maker, toaster, blender, and any other appliances on your counters will ensure you are not putting back the same germs and bacteria on your countertops.

Not all appliances need to be displayed at all times. If you only use the appliance once or twice a week then storing that appliance in a cabinet will free up much needed space.

The Dish Drain:

Most of us have a dish drain that we use for hand washed dishes. Taking the time to either clean and disinfect or to purchase a new one will go a long way in removing illness born germs and bacteria.

The Sink:

Some say our sinks harbor more germs than our bathrooms, which makes disinfecting this area a must on a regular basis.

We offer a vast amount of different products depending on your need but some of the most common and efficient ones are:
