ABC Sales and Services, Inc. Receives Cleaning Industry’s Highest Award

ABC Sales & Service of St. Thomas, USVI has renewed the Cleaning Industry Management Standard, (CIMS) Certification with honors and Green Building designation from ISSA, The Worldwide Leader in Cleaning. ISSA has over nine-thousand businesses as members including; chemical and commercial cleaning equipment manufacturers, cleaning contractors, in-house cleaning organizations, K-12 and higher education.

To receive the CIMS Certification a cleaning organization must provide written processes for nearly one-hundred and fifty standards in the following areas;

Quality Systems,

Service Delivery,

Human Resources,

Health & Safety,

Management Commitment

Green Building

CIMS certification is renewed with an in-depth review every 2 years.  An assessor reviews the written documents, and schedule a site visit. The site visit includes; talking to their customers, talking to their staff, tours of customers sites, checking their equipment, chemicals, safety equipment, accident/injury reports, inspections reports, follow-up of customer concerns, basically making sure they are doing what they say they are doing.

ISSA created CIMS in 2007 to give property owners, property managers and facility managers a better way to measure apples to apples when asking for bids on Cleaning services. CIMS has been well received and many companies and governments have installed a CIMS requirement in their bid Specifications including; all U.S. Army Hospitals, State Farm Insurance, The cities of Edmonton and Toronto and hundreds of large corporations. Currently there is estimated to be approximately 100,000 cleaning organizations in North America from mom & pop operations to companies reaching one billion a year in revenue. Due to the difficulty of receiving the CIMS Certification only two-hundred and fifty cleaning organizations have been certified.

ABC Sales & Service was initially CIMS and CIMS GB Certified with Honors in 2013 and have now been CIMS re-certified with honors and GB in 2015, 2017 and most recently 2019.
