Tasks To Maintain A Healthy Environment

22 October 2020

Keeping our environments healthy is much easier when we have a plan. Whether we take on the cleaning tasks ourselves or we enlist the services of ABC Sales & Services, the areas of cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting are what every Healthy Environment requires. Below is a list of areas that you can use to build your plan. Once you enact some of the things on his list, you will see a marked improvement in your daily life and health.

Daily

  • Pick up nightly
  • Pick up and put things back in their place before going to bed
  • Get your kids and family involved
  • Add picking up to the bedtime routine.

Stay ahead of the chores.

  • Washing dishes as they become dirty
  • Clean up spills
  • Wipe down counter tops.

Plan ahead.

  • Wipe down the shower walls after each use to keep soap scum from building up
  • After showering, open the shower curtain or leave the shower door open to allow fresh air in
  • Keep mold and mildew from growing in your shower
  • Hang it up.
  • Hang up wet towels so they have enough air space to dry.
  • Bunched up towels on the floor all day will offer mold and mildew a perfect place to grow.

Declutter the mail.

  • Go through your mail right by the garbage can and tossing out unwanted junk mail
  • Toss out envelopes and advertisement inserts as you open the mail.

Weekly

  • Vacuum
  • Each week to vacuum out the sand, dust, and dirt from carpets, area rugs, grout between tiles
  • Dust with the right tools
  • Use micro fiber cloths and a high dusting extension pole
  • Dust from top to bottom
  • Sanitize the toilet
  • Give yourself a healthy boost and sanitize your toilet at least once a week
  • Use Hard Surface wipes often on the handle and seat, but once a week give your toilet a healthy sanitize inside and out
  • Use a long-handled toilet brush to swish it around the bowl, under the rim, and as far into the trap as possible. Let it sit several minutes and flush
  • Change the bed
  • Wash linens once a week
  • Send your bedding through a super-hot washing.

Monthly

  • Clean the refrigerator, microwave, and oven
  • Empty out your refrigerator. Toss out expired foods. Sanitize the shelves and drawers
  • Clean the microwave. If you use your oven on a daily basis then once a month clean it out
  • Disinfect where germs breed
  • Disinfect all of your trash cans, especially those in the kitchen and bathroom
  • Use hard surface wipes on all your door knobs, remote controls, cabinet handles, and any other highly touched area
  • Dust all your hanging pictures
  • Dust mites breed in areas that are not dusted regularly. Dust photos, artwork, lamps, and other decorative items
  • Clean out your car
  • Remove all trash, papers, and water bottles. Sanitize the interior. Address stains on seats and carpets. Wash and wax the outside
  • Clean the windows

Seasonal

  • The three-month purge
  • At the beginning of every third month go through your closets and dresser drawers
  • Refold all the linens and clothing
  • Toss out or donate to charity any items not used or needed
  • Straighten out your bathroom vanity
  • Wash windows thoroughly, including the sills
  • Wash the windows inside and out and include the window sills
  • Let the sun shine in through the seasons by keeping your home's panes sparkling
  • Make doormats welcoming
  • A door mat stops dirt and sand from entering your home or office
  • Door mats receive a lot of use so quarterly give them a detailed cleaning
  • Vacuum air conditioner ducts
  • Vacuum air conditioning vent ducts to keep air circulating freely and to save energy
  • Lighten up
  • Remove the covers on those ceiling lighting fixtures and wash the inside as well as the outside. Don’t forget the light bulbs
  • A few minutes with a stepladder, an all-purpose cleanser, and a microfiber cloth will give new light to your life
  • Wash up
  • Wash walls, cabinets, baseboards and woodwork.  Remove dust and cob webs clinging to walls and cabinets.
